About the Business Operations Team
The Business Operations (BizOps) plays a critical role in supporting and accelerating Wealthsimple’s strategic priorities. The team tackles Wealthsimple’s most important and ambiguous challenges through rigorous problem solving and execution. We partner deeply with stakeholders across the company in order to: accelerate the delivery of priority projects, incubate and enhance products and business functions, facilitate collaboration, and lead the strategic planning process. 
Our job is to simplify complexity, define structure, and help implement the most efficient use of scarce company resources (people, capital and time). As a Business Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading 3 - 9 month projects to deliver meaningful and measurable value.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Take ownership of discrete BizOps projects and engage with leadership to solve complex business problems.
    • Define and break down complex problems in a structured way.
    • Partner cross-functionally (Product, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Finance) to solve problems that deliver meaningful value.
    • Leverage data to generate insights and drive meaningful business decisions (SQL a plus).Conduct primary and secondary research to develop informed perspectives and recommendations.
    • Lead teams through problem-definition and insight generation processes.
    • Provide clear, well-supported recommendations based on rigorous analysis.
    • Proactively identify and address roadblocks, driving yourself and teams to action.
    • Act as a catalyst, bringing the right people together on cross-functional projects, and leaving teams stronger after working together.
    • Manage, support, and coach junior resources on the BizOps team.
    • Contribute directly to building and shaping the BizOps function at Wealthsimple.
    • Lead by example with a no-ego attitude, ready to roll up your sleeves.

Skills we’re looking for:

    • 5+ years experience in banking, consulting, startups, or strategic operations roles.
    • Strong data & analytics skills - comfortable analyzing large datasets with a keen eye for detail.
    • Problem-solving expertise - Proven expertise breaking down complex problems into pragmatic solutions.
    • Collaboration - excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members
    • Efficient and action-oriented - producing significant output with minimum wasted effort.
    • Proactive and assertive - takes full ownership over work without being told what to do.
    • A strong bias for action - ability to work independently or in teams, take initiative, and deliver results
    • Communication - Communicates complex ideas simply, plainly, and truthfully to any audience.
    • People leadership - Experienced at leading and driving change, both with and without authority.
    • Organization - Plans and organizes productively, maintaining focus on key priorities.
