The Legal Counsel - Global SaaS Technology Company role involves providing legal advice to cross-functional teams and negotiating deals with blue-chip clients. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of PQE, be admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. This is a fixed-term contract until March 2026 with the possibility of extension or part-time opportunity. Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for providing and managing legal advice to cross-functional teams. You will work closely with, and report to, the Acting General Counsel.
- Help negotiate deals to help the business grow in Australia and internationally with blue-chip clients.
- Manage Willow’s insurance portfolio.
- Be flexible and able to prioritise competing priorities under time pressure.
- Develop maturity to balance business goals with legal risks in line with the business’s risk appetite.
- Translate complex legal issues into succinct and clear advice to enable quick and easy decision making by stakeholders.
- Additionally, there is potential for involvement in investor relations and future capital raising initiatives, providing a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction and financial growth of the company.
- Most importantly, can help grow a thriving Australian start-up into a globally recognised market leader.
Skills and Experience Required:
- 3-5 years PQE and be admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate.
- Strong experience in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house business.
- Experience dealing with commercial/SaaS contracts, intellectual property, and Australian labour law is a bonus (but not essential).
- Exposure to US commercial/SaaS contracts beneficial
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and sound judgement in managing complex and sensitive matters.
